Bio
Nigel advises founders, organisations and enterprises on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and related emerging and digital technologies to recognize opportunities and objectives. He has a highly developed understanding of emerging technologies in entertainment and media.
His expertise lies in building trust to open up dialogue around challenges, intuitively understanding needs, establishing requirements and translating them to teams to implement products and develop solutions. With a track record of implementing projects with leading brands, publishers and businesses in multiple sectors.
He is currently advising startups applying machine learning, assisting the Toronto Machine Learning Society and MLOps World in organizing events and chairing the Advisory Board at the Screen Industries Research and Training (SIRT) Centre at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Most recently Nigel headed up client delivery for Filament AI in North America, where he consulted with and advised clients on applying AI to recognize business objectives in insurance, commercial real estate, pharma, health and wellness and media.
He previously led sales for video streaming platform StreamOne up until its acquisition by 24i; directed the Canadian business for INDE augmented and virtual reality platform; was the sole representative for Blippar mobile AR platform in Canada and led business development in Canada and the US for Layar through to its acquisition by Blippar.
Nigel entered the realm of artificial intelligence through mobile augmented reality through the groundbreaking Nissan virtual showroom campaign at Postmedia, where he was Director of Product. Before Postmedia he implemented Rogers Media’s first cross channel digital content initiative with the Everbetter.ca web portal for boomers. He began his digital publishing career with Youth Culture where he developed Canada’s first social network for young women 14-24 with Vervegirl.com.
Nigel is a honours graduate in architecture from the University of Bristol in the UK. As an emerging technology specialist he is a continual learner and most recently completed the Google Cloud certification Machine Learning for Business Professionals.
Nigel lives in Toronto, enjoys being outdoors in all seasons and is an avid downhill skier, cyclist, craft beer advocate and classic car enthusiast. He has a 1948 Chevrolet ¾ ton pickup the family calls Maxine. Should you find him contemplating life over a glass of beer it may be due to a recent loss by Tottenham Hotspur or Toronto FC. Most other times you will find him smiling and with a good tune stack to recommend.
